"China's cyber assault on the U.S. power grid isn’t a question of if, but when—time is ticking, and our lights are on borrowed power."

For years, the mainstream media and political establishment have fixated on Russia as America’s greatest geopolitical threat. Vladimir Putin, with his authoritarian grip and aggressive posturing, is undeniably a danger to global stability. But while the spotlight remains on Moscow, a far more insidious and powerful adversary is waging a covert war against the United States—one that exploits our vulnerabilities, infiltrates our systems, and kills Americans daily. That enemy is the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), and its campaign of “disintegration warfare” is unfolding on American soil with alarming impunity. From the fentanyl crisis to cyberattacks, from border chaos to TikTok’s data harvesting, China’s influence is pervasive, yet our leaders and media seem either oblivious or complicit. Why? Are they ignorant, or have they been bought?
The CCP’s Multifaceted Assault:
The CCP’s strategy is not one of overt military conquest but of subtle, relentless erosion. Consider the fentanyl crisis: over 70,000 Americans died from drug overdoses in 2023, with fentanyl—largely produced in China and smuggled through porous borders—driving the epidemic. This is no accident. China’s lax regulation of precursor chemicals and its ties to Mexican cartels suggest a deliberate effort to destabilize American communities. Meanwhile, the border crisis, exacerbated by lax policies, has allowed not only drugs but also potential operatives to slip through. Reports from 2023 noted a surge in Chinese nationals crossing the U.S.-Mexico border, raising questions about espionage or worse.
Cyber warfare is another front:
The 2023 Chinese spy balloon incident, where a massive surveillance device floated over U.S. military sites for days before being shot down, was a brazen display of Beijing’s audacity. Yet it was merely the tip of the iceberg. Chinese hackers have targeted critical infrastructure—power grids, water systems, and government networks—with alarming frequency. The 2021 Microsoft Exchange Server hack, attributed to CCP-linked groups, compromised tens of thousands of organizations. These are not isolated incidents but part of a coordinated campaign to exploit American weaknesses.
Then there’s TikTok, a cultural juggernaut with over 150 million U.S. users. Owned by ByteDance, a company beholden to the CCP, TikTok is a data-harvesting machine, collecting everything from location data to biometric information. Its algorithm, designed to maximize engagement, also shapes narratives and amplifies division, often promoting content that aligns with Beijing’s interests. In 2024, Congress debated banning TikTok but faced resistance from influencers and tech giants, underscoring the app’s grip on American culture.
Complicity at the Top:
Why does this threat receive so little sustained attention? The answer lies in the CCP’s deep ties to American elites. California Governor Gavin Newsom, for instance, has cultivated close relationships with Chinese officials, visiting Beijing in 2023 to discuss “climate cooperation” while sidestepping human rights abuses. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell’s family business has long-standing ties to Chinese state-owned enterprises, raising questions about conflicts of interest. Hollywood, too, has bowed to Beijing’s censorship demands, altering films to appease the CCP in exchange for access to China’s lucrative market. These connections suggest a troubling reality: some of America’s most powerful figures have financial or political incentives to downplay the CCP’s threat.
The CCP also exploits ideological divides. Leftist groups, often funded or amplified by Chinese-linked entities, have fueled street chaos and anti-American sentiment. In 2020, reports surfaced of Chinese propaganda outlets promoting Black Lives Matter narratives to sow discord, a tactic straight out of Beijing’s playbook. By exploiting progressive policies—like open borders or decriminalization of drugs—the CCP finds fertile ground to weaken America from within.
Russia vs. China: A Misplaced Obsession:
Contrast this with the media’s fixation on Russia. Putin’s actions—invading Ukraine, meddling in elections—are serious but lack the scale and sophistication of China’s campaign. Russia’s economy is a fraction of China’s, and its global influence pales in comparison. While Putin threatens with brute force, the CCP infiltrates through economics, technology, and culture. Yet the media’s Russia narrative, amplified since 2016, dominates discourse, drowning out warnings about China. This misdirection is not just ignorance—it’s systemic. Whether through lobbying, investments, or outright corruption, the CCP has ensured its war remains in the shadows.
A Call for Urgency:
The CCP’s war is not hypothetical; it’s happening now. Every fentanyl death, every hacked system, every divisive TikTok video is a battle in this conflict. Our vulnerabilities—open borders, lax cybersecurity, and elite complicity—are not accidents but opportunities Beijing exploits with precision. Left-wing policies, while often well-intentioned, have created gaps the CCP eagerly widens.
It’s time to shift focus. The media must stop obsessing over Russia and confront the enemy at our doorstep. Lawmakers must sever ties with Chinese interests and prioritize national security over personal gain. And Americans must demand accountability, from Washington to Hollywood. The CCP is not just a rival—it’s a predator, and it’s killing us while our leaders look the other way.
"If we don’t act, the question won’t be whether China infiltrates America, but how much of America will be left when it’s done."
